the fence

this piece is about access to health care and the huge cultural debate that has ensued surrounding this issue. it is an issue that has really created a lot of passionate response from the public. this piece is only a sketch that i would like to turn into a larger multimedia work, but it attempts to capture some of the drama of this scenario.

WAIT!

by nora g.

this sketch is about the irony of the stress associated with receiving health care in this country. we hurry to arrive at the doctor's office on time, only to wait in an examination room for much longer than the few minutes that we end up seeing our actual physician. similarly, in seemingly dire cirumstances, we rush to wait for hours in emergency rooms. it seems that the majority of time spent is on increasingly extensive amounts of paperwork.

Nancy

instead of chasing her dreams to open a flower shop, nancy settles for a ho-hum existence at her boring yet stable desk job, through which she recieves decent health care benefits. why? because she knows that she will not go bankrupt if she becomes ill and needs to seek medical attention.
